01 — What do you need

Four jobs, four conversations

A dead outlet, a solar array and a tenant build-out are not the same customer. Pick the one that fits and you get a quote for that work — not a generic callback.

CODE

Point at any line and the shorthand on the right explains itself. Every term is in the codex further down, too.

Live — City of Los Angeles PUBLIC DATA · REFRESHED HOURLY

Electrical permits issued across Los Angeles this month

Most recent in the Valley: “Main panel upgrade 200 amps” — Pacoima, issued 22 August. Panel work is the single most common electrical permit in the city.

Source · City of LA, LADBS open permit data
!
Extreme heat warning in effect through 28 August

Heat is when marginal panels and undersized service conductors fail. If your breakers trip in the afternoon and reset at night, that is worth a call.

Source · National Weather Service, Los Angeles/Oxnard
In this concept these are a captured snapshot. On the live site the panel reads the City of Los Angeles permit API and the National Weather Service alert feed directly — both free, both public, no third party in between. The permit feed can be narrowed to any neighbourhood in the city, so the same panel works on a Sunland page, a Pacoima page or a Westside page.
03 — Why VoltCalc

What you get that a call centre can't give you

We pull the permits

Licensed since 2021. Panel work gets inspected and signed off properly — not left for you to explain at resale.

Local to the foothills

Based in Sunland. We know the inspectors, the fire-zone requirements, and how interconnection works on both sides of the line — LADWP here, Edison over the hill.

One crew, start to finish

Solar companies sell the system and subcontract the wiring. We do the panel, the interconnection and the battery ourselves.

04 — Service area

Sunland, Tujunga & greater Los Angeles

Home ground is the Crescenta Valley and the foothills — that is where we are fastest and where most of our service work is. For larger projects we work right across Los Angeles.

05 — Codex

Plain English

Electricians talk in abbreviations. Here is what every one of them on this site actually means, so you never have to nod along.

200A / 400AAmps. The size of your electrical service — how much power the house can draw at once. Most homes need 200A; 400A if you're running solar, a battery, EV charging and a shop.
C-10The electrical licence. California's classification for electrical contractors. Ours is #1084269. Anyone wiring your house should have one.
CSLBContractors State License Board. The state body that issues and polices those licences. You can look ours up in about thirty seconds.
LADWP / SCEYour utility — and which one depends on your street. Sunland and Tujunga sit inside the City of Los Angeles, so that is LADWP. Cross into La Crescenta or La Cañada and it is Southern California Edison. Anything touching the service gets scheduled with whichever serves you — we make that call.
PVPhotovoltaic. Solar panels. The bit on the roof that turns sunlight into power.
ESSEnergy storage system. The battery. What keeps the fridge running when the grid goes down.
L2Level 2 charging. A proper 240V home EV charger — hours, not overnight. Level 1 is a wall socket.
3PHThree-phase. Commercial and industrial power. Runs bigger equipment than a house ever needs.
ROUGHRough-in. The wiring that goes in before the walls close up. Second half is trim-out — devices, fixtures, covers.
LUTRONLighting control. The industry standard for automated shades and lighting systems. We are certified to install and program it.
GENStandby generator. Permanently installed, starts itself when the grid drops, runs as long as it has fuel.
24HREmergency. Burning smell, sparking, dead power. Call, don't wait.
PERMITCity approval. Filed before the work, inspected after. It's what makes the job legal, insurable and invisible at resale.
06 — Proof

Don't take our word for it

Every job we finish, we ask the customer to say what actually happened. Read them wherever you already trust.
